Choosing and Maintaining an Outdoor Mat

Selecting an outdoor mat that sustains difficult weather conditions and still retain its looks is difficult. Outdoor floor mats made at XpressMats ensure that you face no trouble on this account. In fact our outdoor floor mats are made with top quality materials to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Why XpressMats outdoor mats instead of coir outdoor mats?
A coir outdoor mat undoubtedly creates a completely different look, but it also has certain disadvantages. Most importantly, coir outdoor mats discolor easily because of exposure to sunlight and due to over use. These are also more susceptible to mold. On the other hand, our outdoor floor mats provide high UV protection and do not fade in spite of heavy usage. Essentially if you have a custom made outdoor logo mat it is essential to ensure that it does not fade away, else the entire purpose would be lost. The outdoor logo mat made by us would be absolutely color fast, so you do not need to worry. Also, most of our outdoor floor mats use solution dyed nylon that is sealed into either SBR or Nitrile rubber. This prevents mat shedding, a common occurrence with the coir based outdoor mat.
Is the outdoor mat safe?
To ensure that the XpressMats outdoor mats are safe, they have two basic anti trip features. The first is the SBR rubber border that these mats have. This border prevents trip hazards and also helps in stopping water and dirt from leaking onto the floor. The second anti trip feature in the outdoor mat is the optional gripper backing that stops the mats from slipping which is usually the reason for mat accidents. This option is ideal for hard surfaces or on carpeting with loop construction. Also to ensure that the outdoor mats do not get stuck in the door, these are custom made according to the door clearance that you measure. Most mats in the entrance category are ½" or less. To measure your door clearance, you would need to take a used deck of cards and place the stack about 6" from the door in its near closed position. Next open the door very slowly, allowing the bottom of the door to push off cards that are above the doors base. Pick up the remaining cards, set them on a table and measure the height.
Cleaning the outdoor floor mat
A floor mat outdoor is exposed to a lot of dust and grime and at the same time is susceptible to sunlight, rain and slush. Also, usually this would bear the brunt of the highest traffic. To ensure that your floor mat outdoor is truly welcoming, you need to make sure that it is clean at all times. And if you notice moisture and soil tracking around the floor mat outdoor, or a darkening in the color then you must pay immediate attention to it.
An outdoor floor mat can be cleaned using a standard upright vacuum, carpet cleaner or industrial washing machine depending on the mat. You might have to take extra care while cleaning an outdoor logo mat, as certain areas might have light shades depending on the artwork. Our custom printed outdoor floor mats respond best to dry vacuum or wet vacuum process without using harsh cleaners. In fact, you can even simply clean outdoor mats with a hose. Our standard mats can be cleaned in a variety of ways, from upright vacuum or carpet cleaners to industrial laundry machines. Most mats will clean well with a simple hosing and drying. How can you maintain the floor beneath the outdoor mat?
A regular complain is that the floor under the outdoor mats gets discolored. This discoloration is usually a yellow or brown and is usually caused by moisture. The reason for this is that moisture from the ground comes up through the floor until it reaches the floor surface. In normal circumstances this moisture evaporates and goes unnoticed. The placement of a mat on the floor prevents this evaporation and thus the moisture gets trapped and further causes discoloration. This happens the most in the case of outdoor mats that are placed at the entrance as every time the door opens, there is a temperature variation. Ideally to avoid this, you should remove the mat from its place for some time at a gap of one or two days. This would let the moisture escape, thus negating the effect that it could have. You also need to be careful that the mat is properly dried before you place it because a damp outdoor mat can also cause discoloration.
